Transformers merchandise to be launched

http://z.about.com/d/movies/1/0/y/s/N/transformersposter2.jpg

By Alex Villafania, hackenslash Reporter
INQUIRER.net

A FEW days before the opening of the Transformers movie, local merchants are all ready to cash in on the potential blockbuster of the year. On June 29, several companies will be introducing several lines of Transformer-themed products.

The launch of the Transformers movie merchandise launch will be held at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City. Most of the items would be action figures from the movie and from the previous cartoon series, clothing lines and similar items.

Apart from the merchandise, the event will also have several side events such as trivia contests, diorama exhibits and collections.

In an interview with hackenslash, Transformers Philippines event organizer Azrael Coladilla said the launch would be one of the big movie highlights of the year thanks to a 23-year-old cartoon franchise that made an impact among Filipinos.

In fact, the recently introduced toy line from the movie have been selling out in such stores as Toys “R” Us and Toy Kingdom. Among the most sellable characters are the new movie versions of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron and Blackout.

“It’s going to be a big blockbuster that can compete with other movies. Of course we can’t say it’ll beat the other franchises but the Transformers movie will surely be a hit for both the fans of the original cartoon series and first-time viewers,” Coladilla said.

Already, local websites are abuzz with information regarding the upcoming film, directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg, particularly the Transformers Philippines online forum, the largest and most prominent Transformers-related forum in the country.

Toy fans ‘transform and roll out’ to ToyCon 2007

By Alex Villafania, hackenslash Reporter

INQUIRER.net

toycon-4.JPGWITH only two weeks left before the opening of the highly anticipated “Transformers” movie, comic fans, collectible fanatics, hobbyists and casual geeks were treated to the year’s biggest toy and hobby fare, the Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2007 (ToyCon).

This year’s ToyCon at the SM Megamall saw the biggest number of exhibitors and sponsors, many of whom are involved in the preparation for the opening of the live action flick “Transformers,” which will be shown on June 28 in the Philippines, almost a week before the worldwide premier showing.

The ToyCon website even offers video streaming to highlight this year’s activities.

“It’s more of a Transformers event than anything else but that’s OK because everyone loved the cartoon series and the toys that came with it. Many of the hobby shops that sold Transformers merchandise already ran out of some stock,” according to Azrael Coladilla, head of the organizing committee for ToyCon.

Floro Dery's TransFormers exhibit and interview

Visit the TransFormers Philippines, the Premiere TRANSFORMERS GROUP In the Philippines, booth area, for we are the curator for the one of a kind exhibit for Floro Dery.

check out the cool arts and concept designs that never before seen by fans and thanks for Mr. Floro Dery for sharing his art to us.

Check out too the interview that will premiere at the TOYCON event, all questions that had been bugging us for the past years has been answered.

Unicron
How do you come up of the character Unicron and where it get an idea of the concept?
Since Unicron is a villain and because I was fooling around at that time, I decided to make him look demonic with goatee, horns, bat-like wings and eagle talons for feet. I got the idea of Unicron from the planet Saturn and Satur, Actually, the original name was "Ingestor," but the writer changed it to Unicron when he saw the design, probably because of the "horns." - Floro Dery
Also at the event a special award will be given to Floro Dery, arrange and from Collectibles Unlimited and TransFormers Philippines

Talecraft Story-Creation Card Game

Talecraft Story-Creation Card Game
"Words are spells. To practice Talecraft is to weave words."
The aim of Talecraft is to create stories based on cards. Some see Talecraft as a creative tool. Others, as a game. But Talecraft is an art: one with thepurpose of taking its participants on a journey to the recesses of imagination, to see lands where rules are bent, and to meet people who steal our hearts.
Tell your Tale...
Master the Craft.
How to Play Talecraft
To play the game, the cards must first be arranged into three stacks: The Genre stack, the Archetype stack, and the Key stack. The cards are facing down.
First, each player must pick one card each from the Genre Stack. That card will determine what genre the player fs story has to be. Next, each player must take two cards each from the Archetype Stack. One card will be their main protagonist, and the other card will be their main antagonist. Next, the players must pick six cards each from the Key Stack.
If the player picks a Keyword, the player must integrate that as a major factor or important item in the story, which the player will create at the end of the game. If it is a Plotline, the plot of the player fs story must follow it. If a player picks more than one Plotline, the player must decide which Plotline will be used as a main plot of the story, and which will be used as subplots. If it is an instruction that tells the player to pick, the player must follow it and pick a card from either the Genre Stack (the player fs story now has more than one genre, i.e. Romantic Fantasy) or the Archetype Stack (the player is now required to add another character). If the player picks an instruction that tells him to swap, the player is given the opportunity to discard one of his cards (any of the three types: Genre, Archetype, or Key) and pick a new card of the same type.
The players will then have ten minutes to create their stories, and then take turns telling their created stories.

Granado Espada makes mark in gaming world

http://www.motoko.it/images/morpheus/granado_espada.jpg
Granado Espada 2.0, the newest version, includes new updates in the world of GE, making the game more interactive and enjoyable for local gamers.

IP Interactive, a brand of communications and IT company, IPVG, will be launching its Open Beta Test (OBT, 509) of the triple-A Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG, 509) game, Granado Espada (GE, 509), on June 16, 2007. The said game kicked off simultaneously in Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

150,000 gamers from these countries registered for Granado Espada, adding 13,000 more players in its first 24 hours.

Operated by Singaporean company, Infocomm Asia Holdings (IAH, 509), the success of GE’s POBT validates the company’s “One Asia, One Market” strategy announced last year.

Granado Espada is set in a detailed fantastic game world that reflects the 17th century and New World colonial exploration where technological tools of that period fuse with magic and wizardry.

GE POBT, currently in its free play stage, introduces more improvements to the game since its Closed Beta Testing (CBT, 509) last February 2007. This patch has over 100 new maps, including the barren Katovic Snowfield and three raid dungeons among others. Over 300 new quests were added, including mini quests, mission rooms, and quests that can be picked up in combat zones, giving players a more exciting gaming experience.

Among the many features in the game include the Baron Mode (player versus player, 509), Auction Hourse (trading amongst players, 509), Faction Colony Wars (guild versus guild, 509), Item Crafting, new items and more Recruitable NPCs.

“The players were very excited about it. In the freeplays, the response was so overwhelming that we had to double the allotted seats to accommodate the gamers. I've also been receiving a lot of emails from Internet cafe owners nationwide expressing their interest in the game,” says IP Interactive Product Manager Ivee Feria.

Giant robots, hi-tech gear, armies of soldiers and warriors, heroes, villains and a truly mind-boggling spectacle of exciting sights and sounds. Sounds like a big-budget Hollywood movie? Well, it actually is…something much better!

Thrill to the biggest gathering of all collectors, gamers, and hobbyists on this side of the planet as the Collectibles Unlimited Association Inc. brings you, the “6th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2007”. Better known as the Toycon, this annual event boasts one of the most highly attended conventions ever put up in a single venue.

This event has garnered unparalleled success in the past, with almost thirty thousand people participating in it since it began in 2002. It has been a groundbreaking event which celebrates the diversity of toy collecting and the enthusiasm of the comics, collectibles, hobbies and gaming communities in the country.

Now on its sixth year, TOYCON 2007 continues its proud tradition of bringing you the biggest and the most awe-inspiring exhibits, as it celebrates this year’s theme: TOYCON TRANSFORM! This year Toycon is geared up to celebrate the biggest toy property to hit the big screen: TRANSFORMERS, with the release of the live-action, big-budget movie in July produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Michael Bay.

In line with this, Toycon this year will feature the Transformers exhibit featuring the finest and rarest Transformers toys, memorabilia and collectible merchandise presented by the Transformers fan group, Cybertron Philippines. And in addition Solar-UIP, local distributors of the Transformers Movie will set up an exhibit that highlights the exciting photos, merchandise and sneak peek trailers of the upcoming blockbuster.

A Transformers art gallery will be put up on display featuring the art and works of comic artist and illustrator, Floro Dery. He is the concept artist and character designer of some characters of Generation 1 series and the animated classic movie. The exhibit will be here for the 1st time in our country and will be curate by Transformers Philippines.

Another exciting feature of this year’s Toycon is the launch of an international toyline, Kodai Jinns, created by Dig Deep Entertainment based in Hong Kong. This will be the world-wide release of this new exciting line of action figures designed by international comic book artist Walter McDaniel who will grace the convention, along with Dig Deep artists and creators, Digger, Yuri Timg and Mike Tang.

Of course the main draw of the convention is the sheer volume and variety of all things collectible and fantastic! It is participated in by the top toy distributors, online gaming companies, hobbies, sports and collectibles merchants in the country with over a hundred different booths featuring collectible merchandise, exhibits of the hottest toys and game properties, role-playing game tournaments and online gaming competitions, various artwork from the country's best anime and comic book artists and various attractions in the sci-fi and fantasy genre.

Of course not to miss out on the other event highlights of Toycon like customized toy making contests, comic art contests, auctions, anime dance competitions, TransFormers fan art contest, character creation contest, comics creation contest, kiddie contests, stage games and rides, fan film contest, animated film contest, exclusive items for prizes and giveaways and the country’s biggest COSPLAY Competition!

The 6th Philippine Toycon will once again transform the landscape of Philippine conventions and make a toy fan out of each of the thousands lucky enough to roll into the SM Megatrade Hall 2 &3 on June 16 and 17, from 10:00 Am to 9:00 Pm. Toycon fans, get ready to unite and Transform!
